Women’s Volleyball Concludes Play Cal Lutheran Invitational

The Endicott women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday night on the final day of the Cal Lutheran Invitational. Endicott lost its first match to Whittier, 3-1, before concluding the tournament against host Cal Lutheran, 3-0.

WHITTIER 3, ENDICOTT 1 (18-25, 25-22, 10-25, 20-25)

Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) and Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.) tied for the team lead in kills with 11 total.

Meanwhile, Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) and Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) also contributed eight and six putaways in the setback, respectively.

Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) and Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) split duties running the attack as the duo dished out 18 and 17 assists apiece. 

Defensively, Gilbert registered 11 digs to notch her second double-double of the season.

Alexandra Tecun (Hawthorne, Calif.) added a team-high 12 digs from the back row, while Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) and McGrath registered 11 and 10 digs of their own.

CAL LUTHERAN 3, ENDICOTT 0 (18-25, 23-25, 20-25)

Gilbert once again paced the attack, this time with 10 kills. 

Schueler added seven putaways, while Sanborn notched six kills to highlight the rest of the hitters.

Koelb also finished the match with a career-high 24 assists and added eight digs to go with five kills.

Ruel guided the defense behind a team-high nine digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott is 1-1 all-time against Whittier.
  • The Gulls are 0-2 all-time versus Cal Lutheran.
  • Gilbert has compiled 10 or more kills in four matches this season.
  • McGrath now has four double-doubles this year.
