Student-to-teacher ratio in Lynn Public Schools District fell in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Lynn Public Schools District fell by 3% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 15,727 students being taught by 1,200.1 teachers in Lynn Public Schools District, which covers schools within Essex County and has a main office in Lynn. That's an average of 13.1 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Lynn Public Schools District had 15,587 students and 1,152.1 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
