The ratio of students to teachers in Phoenix Academy Public Charter High School, Lawrence District fell by 23.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 138 students being taught by 11.4 teachers in Phoenix Academy Public Charter High School, Lawrence District, which covers schools within Essex County and has a main office in Lawrence. That's an average of 12.1 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Phoenix Academy Public Charter High School, Lawrence District had 159 students and 10 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
