The ratio of students to teachers in Nahant Public Schools District rose by 14.7% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 164 students being taught by 11.1 teachers in Nahant Public Schools District, which covers schools within Essex County and has a main office in Nahant. That's an average of 14.8 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Nahant Public Schools District had 147 students and 11.4 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
